Nicky Bowen is an American artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Working across painting, hand-painted signs, writing, and collaborative projects, she pays attention to the places where private experience becomes visible: in a gesture, a word on a wall, a shared meal, or a change in how a body moves through space.

Bowen’s practice draws on her background in public health and therapeutic bodywork, as well as years spent working in restaurants and alongside other artists. Her abstract paintings explore memory and feeling through color, mark-making, and material; her signs bring that same sensitivity to the public spaces of everyday life.

Currently working in Honduras, Nicky is making new paintings and signs while training as a Divemaster. Her work follows a continuing curiosity about how people care for themselves, one another, and the places they inhabit.
